This is a yearly workshop not to be missed as Marshall is one of the best at teaching the craft and design language of visual storytelling.

It is one of the most foundation workshop we offer at CDA. Because of this, we have pushed our Summer semester to start after this event to allow all of our students to attend without schedule conflicts with their regular classes.

Hi Everyone,

Want to learn how to create rich, believable environments that tells a story about the culture and the people who created them?

In this intermediate design course, Gabriel will go over the fundamental components of various architectural types in history and learn how to apply these ideas to evoke depth of history/storytelling in your design images. 

During the class, Gabriel will survey the common building types from different cultures and at different historical periods (Ancient, Medieval, Recent). Through the studies and concept sketches the class will break down a new type of architecture each week and explore how to use these studies to create new concept designs. 

This is an important course for anyone who wants to learn more about designing architectures and give their design work an extra level of layering and history.

Samuel Michlap​ is coming to CDA this Saturday, July 15th to teach a workshop on "Cinematic Set Design"~!!

Samuel Michlap is an experienced Production Designer/'Visual Development Artist with past projects such as “The Lion King”, “The Prince of Egypt”, “Doctor Strange”, “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2”, “The Batman”, “Spider-man: Homecoming”, & “Godzilla: King of the Monsters”

In this workshop, Samuel will be sharing with us his design process and lighting techniques used in creating iconic sets for storytelling. Topics such as set design, cinematography, & lighting will be discussed during the lecture/demonstration. Samuel have a lot of experience/ knowledge to offer and this is a great opportunity to learn about visual storytelling through set design from one of the top designers in the industry.

Gabriel Yeganyan is is returning this Fall to teach his "Architecture for World Building" class at CDA~!!

This important design class teaches the students the foundations of architecture structure, function and visual design themes to reflect the storytelling of the culture/people who created them.

Three key periods of architecture history are covered and broken down during the many in class lectures and demos:

- Ancient Civilization (such as Egyptian, Mesopotamian, etc.)
- Asian Wood Architecture (such as Japan, China, Thai, etc.)
- Medieval Gothic (from various areas in Europe)

Students will learn the "anatomy" underneath the building's surface and learn how to use it to help them create believable and rich new worlds from their imagination.

This is a class not to be missed by anyone interested in improving on their environment design.
